1. OVERVIEW
Students receive 1 scheduled lesson per week. Lessons are 30 minutes per student for a total of 4 lessons a month. When a month has five weeks, the fifth lesson is Free. Families commit to 1 quarter (3 months) at a time as follows:
1.1. January through March
1.2. April through June
1.3. September through December
1.4. Summer is flexible, and arrangements will be made based on the specific family’s schedule, and Adventure in Music’s availability.
1.5. AIM is closed for; Thanksgiving week, two weeks in December which include the week of Christmas, and the first week of January which includes New Years’ Day.
2. The Fee for lessons is $145/month and there is a one-time annual registration fee of $45 per family.
2.1. The registration fee Is payable by both new and returning students.
2.2. The registration fee covers access to the parent/student portal, and any additional materials that AIM may provide for the student during the course of the year.
2.3. Parents are still responsible for purchasing the lesson books for their children.
2.4. Unless otherwise indicated, tuition is paid monthly. If AIM travels to the student’s home for lessons, the rate is $30 more per month.
3. LESSON BOOKS: Depends on the age of the child. Most children ages 6 and up begin on the Faber Method Books.
4. LOCATION OF LESSONS: AIM's (Adventure in Music's) Studio.
5. EXPECTATIONS:
5.1. Practice Daily: Unless the child practices daily, progress is not possible. Students will be given assignments, most of which will be repeated each day at home. Repetition is the key to mastery, and mastery is the key to comfort and exploration.
5.2. Lesson Attendance: Please attend each scheduled lesson and come prepared with completed assignments.
5.3. Materials: Each student is required to have their own music books. These come 3 or 4 books in a set. We can purchase the books and bill the parent, or the parent can purchase the recommended books on their own.
5.4. Piano for Practicing at home. Each student must have a piano for practicing at home. A child may begin with a keyboard but investing in a digital piano will be inevitable. For digital piano’s please look for the following:
5.5. Fully weighted keys that mimic the weight of piano keys.
5.6. One that has a music stand and pedals.
5.7. A piano bench at a height that keeps forearms level while playing.
6. ABSENCES & MAKE-UP'S:
6.1. Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice: No refunds.
6.2. Cancellation in Advance: When a lesson is canceled more than 24 hours in advance, this policy will apply. You can make up a maximum of two lessons per quarter. To cancel, please communicate via email, text, or phone call. If you opt to cancel by phone, please leave a voice mail requesting the cancellation if we don't pick up.
6.3. Teacher cancellation: If we cancel a lesson, you are eligible for a make-up. Adventure in Music will offer 3 options for a make-up day. Students who do not sign up for a make-up lesson will not be offered additional options.
6.4. Sickness: If a child is sick, please notify AIM per the cancellation policy in order to get a make-up. We understand that sometimes sicknesses is unexpected, and in such an event, we will work with you on a case-by-case basis.
6.5. Summer Absence Policy. The cancellation policy applies even during the summer months.
6.6. Inclement Weather. In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather, whether by the student or the teacher, Adventure in Music will offer 3 options for an additional make-up day. Students who do not sign up for a make-up lesson will not be offered additional options.
7. VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL FROM LESSONS BY THE PARENT OR STUDENT: If you need to withdraw from lessons before the end of the quarter, there is a one-time $45 withdrawal fee. In addition to this, a) we do not issue refunds for any unused lessons for the current month will, and b) the registration fee will not be refunded.
8. DISMISSAL FROM ADVENTURE IN MUSIC: Unfortunately, there are some instances when Adventure in Music and a particular family may not be a good fit for each other. Adventure in Music reserves the right to discontinue lessons with a student at any time. Disrespect, continual lateness or absenteeism, or an ongoing breach of Adventure in Music's policies may result in discontinuation. If Adventure in Music dismisses a student, we will prorate the current month’s tuition and refund any portion that has not been used. The registration fee will not be refunded.
9. RECITALS: At the moment, AIM does not have formal recitals scheduled on our calendar. We request each family to schedule two low-key recital times in the year for the child to perform for family and friends in person.
